This freeway runs along the Majestic on all its lenght. Formerly under governance of the Québec Autoroutes Office, this
highway was tolled. As Jean-Lesage Autoroute, it links Montréal to Québec. Originally, A-40 was supposed to by-pass Trois-Rivières
(the actual elevated carriage through Downtown Trois-Rivières would have been A-755/Francheville Exwy. and would have ran between West-Trois-Rivières Interchange (km 196) and Madeleine Curve) and Ste-Foy (the actual carriage
would have begun at St-Augustin Curve. That explains the irregular exit-numbering of A-440). There are nice point of views of both Montreal and Québec skylines and also of the St. Lawrence.
